Blowing up Beachhead

One of the first dungeons I encountered as a member of the Royal Navy was to annihilate the Armada Fortress in Westminster Skyway, Beachhead. If I didn't destroy Beachhead's powerful cannons before the Armada can get them ready, the Isle of Dogs and Marleybone City are done for. I needed to go through four identical dungeons to disable Beachhead's four guns before I could get to the heart of the fortress. On the way, I encountered Bishop, one of the Armada's high-ranking members, sending a video message-type thing to the leader of the Armada back in Valencia. Before I could dismantle Bishop myself, he fled to who knows where, leaving me to fight some more clockworks. After some challenging fights, my friend Slick Michael Radcliffe and I were able to destroy the guns and the fortress. Now it's back to the War Room on the Isle of Dogs for my next assignment. Hopefully it involves bubble baths and massages...

What could this be? Is that Marleybone on the right?

What is this giant wheel? And what do the gears do?

Where is Rooke?

Don't mess with Ratbeard!

Oops. I broke it

Marleybone first impressions

The Pirate101 Marleybone is very different from other worlds of the Pirate101 Spiral, with its dark sky, Victorian London feel, and dogs and foxes running around, not to mention there is a war going on against the Armada. Getting to Marleybone after Avery gives you the first quest is no small feat. You need to go through two tough dungeons, both of them with very difficult battles inside. Finally, after the nail-biting dungeons, you have permission to go to Marleybone, where your first quest is… another dungeon.

Wizard101 and Pirate101 Marleybone are very different from each other. Obviously there are different locations and classes, but the pirate version of MB has a different feel to it. You’re not running across the rooftops like you are in Wizard, at least not yet. Pirate101 introduces frogs, or at least a frog, foxes, and other creatures in to the Marleybonian world.

Marleybone is definitely a step up from Mooshu difficulty-wise. The dogs and foxes in Marleybone have more health, talents, and damage to their attacks than the samoorai and ninja pigs of Mooshu.  I haven’t died since the Stupendor-X fight, but before I managed to take the windstone, I died twice. Then in the first Marleybone dungeon, I died again. All three times that I died I was trying to solo the instances. Personally, I like the difficulty, but I wonder if this is going to make future content impossible to solo. I love group play, but since none of my real-life friends play, I usually end up soloing quests and dungeons. I just hope my ability to go alone through content isn’t taken away because of the enemies having too much health or too many good talents.

It's here! Test realm is coming!

The test realm has come! Pirate101 will be bringing the test realm to live early tomorrow morning. Those done with Mooshu and the quest "The Great and Powerful Turtle" will go talk to captain Avery back on Skull Island to get your boarding pass to step onto the flight to Marleybone (and eventually Aquila)! Even if your pirate isn't quite done with Mooshu or hasn't gotten there, there are things to do for pirates of all levels! The bazaar, Quest Sharing, New tutorial, and loads more are almost here! Expect new posts about our adventures in the new content, and of course anything Pirate101!

New blogger!

My name is Perilous Oliver Paisley, and I was chosen by the members and developers of this great website to blog on the site! I'll be posting in-game experiences, thoughts, news, and lots of different Pirate101 things!
I currently play a level 50 musketeer in Pirate101, and I love it. The ranged combat is really fun. I like being able to hit an enemy from afar, and not have to worry about being hit back. Also, the class has great survivability. If you can manage not to get into hand-to-hand combat, the only classes you can be attacked by are other musketeers and witchdoctors. By building up resistance, you're hardly taking any damage. Other than the musketeer, I have a swashbuckler working his way through Puerto Mico in Skull Island and a baby buccaneer, although I might start another class and blog about playing him, and my experiences in-game.  Other than Pirate101, I enjoy reading, seeing my friends, visiting family, skiing, and bowling. I hope to be a part of this blog for awhile!
