Sorry for the late blog post guys, I've been busy all this week. I have had time to play in-game, enough to promote Ratbeard.
Ratbeard's promotion begins with the ghost of one of his crew appearing and telling Ratbeard he needs to help Ebenezer Scrooge change his cold, greedy ways. For those of you who don't know, Ebenezer Scrooge was the main character of Charles Dickens' novel, A Christmas Carol. In the book, he was a cold-hearted man who despised Christmas and everything that makes people happy. To change his ways he was visited by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. In Pirate101, though, it isn't that simple.
Ebenezer was planning to shut down the orphanage where he grew up, Old Boz. Ebenezer's father, Old Silas, left him there after he lost all his money. Scrooge goes on to say that his father was nothing but a failure, and a certain Mr. Barks was more of a father to him. Mr. Barks taught Scrooge how to be successful and make money. The promotion quest involves visiting Marleybone, Mooshu, and Skull Island, learning about Ebenezer's past, and trying to convince him to change his ways. Eventually, you learn about a certain item that Scrooge's dad was supposed to give to him, but never did. After seeing that, he finally is convinced he needs to change his cold-hearted, greedy heart. Ebenezer promises that he will not shut down Old Boz, instead deciding to renovate and improve the orphanage. Then it's off to a tavern cellar to celebrate.
The GHOST is telling the LIVING to haunt Scrooge. |
