Time to feast!

To find the next piece of the map to El Dorado, you are sent to Aquila to find the Oracle. She is supposed to help you locate the piece with her prophecies. Unfortunately, getting the scrap of the map is never that easy.

In ancient mythology, oracles were said to make predictions of the future that were inspired by the gods. Most of the oracles worshipped Apollo, the god of truth, prophecy, music, and other things. Lots of the oracles gave predictions every few weeks or months, or sometimes randomly. Because of the infrequent prophecies, most of the public went to seers, who interpreted the future by looking at birds, animal entrails, etc, for their daily prophecy. The disadvantage with seers was they could only answer yes-or-no questions, while oracles were more general. The oracle at Delphi, who was the most prestigious figure in ancient Greek times, made predictions from 1,400 B.C. to 393 A.D.

In Pirate101, before the Oracle can make any prophecies, I have to recover her sacred water that was stolen by the serpents in the city of Troy. Unfortunately, the eagles of Aquila are at war with Troy, and before I can get the water, I need to help them take the city. Sadly, one of the eagles' best warriors, Eagilles, isn't helping with the war effort. To convince him to fight in the war, I have to throw him a feast. This quest line required defeating enemies on land (during which I got my highest AOE damage amount, 1,053 damage), and enemies at sea. I look forward playing more and making more blog posts about my adventures in Aquila. Stay tuned for more!

Pirate101 and Site Interview- Kelsey FireHeart

Ahoy me mateys!
This be Chris, here with an interestin' interview, with one of my good friends and one of the coolest people in the community, Kelsey Fireheart!
Kelsey is the owner of  an official Wizard101 US and UK fansite, StarsoftheSpiral.com, which also is home to Pirate101 Skyways, an official Pirate101 fansite.
(N.B. The questions I asked are in LIME, and Kelsey's responses are in AQUA)

1- When did you start playing Kingsisle games, and how did you discover the community?
I started in end of April '10 I think. I don't even recall exactly how I discovered the game. As for the community, all I remember is hearing some people say there were Wizard101 people on Facebook. Didn't exactly like the environment there, then based on others recommendations, I tried out Twitter. So love it! I learned so much from everyone and it actually made me want to play the game more because of the friends I've made.

2- Could you tell us a bit about your pirates? If you had to choose a favorite, which would you pick, and why?
Oooh that's a hard question. I like Swashbucklers and Witchdoctors. I love Swashies because of its cool moves. Witchdoctors are uber kewl. They have awesome animations and they're just a fun class to play with! I have five Pirates, 3 on one account and 2 on the other because I love dual boxing.
My first character I ever made was Fearless Kristen Eastwick, a Swashbuckler. And today, I have all five classes. They're all girls. But I admit the witchdoctor has the coolest clothes. Although I outfitted the Swashbuckler with the cool glasses which helped! If I had the time, I would make more male characters. But alas, my time slots are filled with both games lol.

3- What are some of the features in Pirate101 that keep you interested in the game, and which do you think could be introduced in the future?

Oh, the storyline no question. I love questing and reading the story as I progress through the game. I would love a bank actually. I wanted one for Wizard101 to store our gold for future use. But hey, Pirate101 has banks that we don't use. Why not make them useful? We can store our gold there. Better than buying treasure and letting it sit in our house. It's cooler too lol. But what could be introduced? Fishing! I am hoping for fishing as well as ship pvp and stitching. And of course, ranked pvp.

4- When you created Stars of the Spiral, are there any particular goals you had in mind for the site?
Well, I was tired of searching all over just for a specific piece of information. I wanted everything at the tips of my fingers. So I decided a site full of guides would be helpful. So tada! Stars of the Spiral was born!

5- When you saw that P101 Skyways had been accepted to the official fansite listing, what was your reaction? I'm sure you'd remember that day. Then, 3 months later you also became an official Wizard101 fansite. How have you enjoyed working with and being supported by the community managers thus far?
I was bursting with excitement. I could not believe it. It was one of my most proudest moments. Then when I got accepted to Wizard101, I just knew that all of my hard work paid off. Honestly the community managers are just superbly amazing. They're the most kindest and friendliest people you'll ever know. If I needed help or something, they would be quick to help me if they could. I am quite proud to be working with them.

6- Anything special you'd like to share with the readers?
Just don't forget to be kind, lend a hand and have fun!

7- Last but not least...Llamas or alpacas?
camels! :O
Why? :P
Shrugs, I like out of the box stuff
or sheep!
WOOLY MAMMOTHS :O!

Thank you for the amazing interview, Kelsey!
It was fun to finally interview you after all this time.

Happy Sailing, young pirates!

Pirate101 and Blog Interview- Autumn DreamWalker

Ahoy, mateys!
Today, we have an interview for ye conducted by Alex, with Autumn DreamWalker.
Autumn is the owner of Secrets of the Spiral, one of the official Pirate101 fan-sites.
Autumn is well-known for her kind and friendly personality in the community.
(N.B. The questions are in LIME and Autumn's responses are in AQUA)

1- Hey Autumn! Let's get to know you a bit first. Could you tell us a bit about your pirate(s)?
I actually have all five classes of pirates.  And guess what....All of them are named Autumn Walker! Original, right? :P  My witchdoctor is level 65. This is the one you will most likely see me using at events. I also have a level 28ish privateer, level 8 swashbuckler (which I am leveling with my daughter), and both my musketeer and buccaneer are level 5. I really love all the classes, but Witchdoctor is definitely my favorite!

2- What inspired you to starting blogging in the first place, and have any other bloggers inspired you to keep it up over the years?
Actually, I didn't know about the Wizard101 blogging or Twitter communities at first.  Edward Lifegem told me about his blog and I started reading it. He's the one that really got me interested in blogging.  We would talk about his blog a lot and I realized I was thinking up ideas about things that would make cool posts.  Then after I joined twitter, I met even more bloggers.  By that time, I thought blogging seemed like it would be a really fun way to be more involved with the community.  And I was right!  As far as what has inspired me to keep blogging.....Well mostly it's because it's a lot of fun.  I have had some times when I got burned out and have taken a break, but that hasn't happened since I started blogging about Pirate101.  My friends' encouragement got me through those rough times.  And I love blogging about Pirate101 so much that I think the "burn-out" phases are in the past! I will be sticking around for a long time! :)

3- We're all well aware that Secrets of the Spiral is the most recent official fansite. What was your first reaction when you discovered that your site has made it to the official Pirate101 fansites list?
Well, my first reaction was to not believe the person who told me, followed by shock, which involved me starting at the computer screen for a few minutes without even moving or typing. Then the hyperventillating started. lol I think the only thought that went through my head was OMG OMG OMG over and over. After that, I was happy/excited.  The support I got from the community when I was accepted was the best part!  However, even now it still doesn't seem real.

4- Are you thinking about applying for a Wizard101 official fansite too?
To be honest, probably not.  There are a few reasons for this, but the biggest is that I don't have much time to blog about both games anymore, so Wizard101 has kind of taken a backseat to Pirate101.

5- What advice do you have for the bloggers in our community who wish to be official?
Well my first advice is to blog because you love blogging, not just so you can become official.  There are many aspects of the game to talk about, so choose something you really enjoy and blog about that.  Try to be unique and let your personality come through in your posts. And if you are really serious about becoming official, make sure you follow all the guidelines before you submit your blog.  Have fun and good luck! :)

6- Anything special you'd like to share with the readers?
Hmm.....something special.  Well, let's see.....Oh, I know! There's the time when I was 4 and my older brother made me eat a worm! Wait, that isn't really special. That's just gross.   Seriously though, I would like to say thanks to my readers, your readers, the community and everyone who has supported me! You guys are all awesome!  And watch Secrets of the Spiral for a huge, secret announcement in September!

7- And the most important question: Llamas or Alpacas?
Well have you heard about the new hybrid, Llampacas?  Or was it Alpamas? Um.....I'll have to get back to you on that!

Thank you Autumn, for this great interview, and thank you for all you do in the community.

We'd love the hear what you guys think about Autumn's responses, and about her in general- Feel free to leave a comment!

If you enjoyed Autumn, and want to get to know her better, you can follow her via @ADreamWalker on Twitter.

Kingsisle Makes a Wish Come True

Minutes before starting to compose the first post on the Kingsisle Blog, Kingsisle's V.P. of Marketing, Fred Howard, received a call from the Make-A-Wish foundation, a non-profit organisation that aided children with life-threatening medical conditions in living their lives to the fullest. He was informed that a young cancer patient, Ryan Tucker, had a dream. That dream was to visit the Kingsisle studio, as he was a huge fan of Pirate101.

Today, we were informed by Kvue.com that young Ryan's wish had come true, as he got to visit Kingsisle Entertainment in a limousine, and had gotten the opportunity of a lifetime- The chance to be a part of his favorite game.

This was the video posted by Kvue.com:

Ryan Tucker will be sailing to the Spiral on Wednesday the 17th, July, as Ryan the Relentless, Pirate101's first ever mojo vendor.

Be sure to stop by and purchase some of Ryan's delicious yum-n-ade!

Happy Sailing, young pirates!

Pirate101 Interview- Anthony DeathBane

Ahoy pirates, it's Chris!
Today, we have a special surprise for you all- An interview with Anthony Deathbane!
If you didn't know, Anthony is known as Kaito on several sites, including on Legends of the Spiral and Stormgate Pirates, which he also manages.
Without further, uh..talking, here we go!
(N.B. The questions are in LIME and Anthony's responses are in AQUA)

1- When you first heard about the release of Pirate101, what were your thoughts as opposed to now, after actually being able to play through content?
Honestly, I was just really excited about everything. I used to have a blog where I would just blog about what I thought about Pirate101 (mostly just beta release guesses). I used to always go on the Pirate101 website and just read about all of the information they had to offer and I was always refreshing Captain Avery's twitter to see if there would be any "new news". I had a little obsession with Monquistans, even changed my twitter name to "Monquistan Fan". Once I got into beta, the game truly surprised me. I had big expectations for it since it was made by the best gaming company I have ever known, but it blew me away!

Promoting Ratbeard!

Sorry for the late blog post guys, I've been busy all this week. I have had time to play in-game, enough to promote Ratbeard.

Ratbeard's promotion begins with the ghost of one of his crew appearing and telling Ratbeard he needs to help Ebenezer Scrooge change his cold, greedy ways. For those of you who don't know, Ebenezer Scrooge was the main character of Charles Dickens' novel, A Christmas Carol. In the book, he was a cold-hearted man who despised Christmas and everything that makes people happy. To change his ways he was visited by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future. In Pirate101, though, it isn't that simple.

Ebenezer was planning to shut down the orphanage where he grew up, Old Boz. Ebenezer's father, Old Silas, left him there after he lost all his money. Scrooge goes on to say that his father was nothing but a failure, and a certain Mr. Barks was more of a father to him. Mr. Barks taught Scrooge how to be successful and make money. The promotion quest involves visiting Marleybone, Mooshu, and Skull Island, learning about Ebenezer's past, and trying to convince him to change his ways. Eventually, you learn about a certain item that Scrooge's dad was supposed to give to him, but never did. After seeing that, he finally is convinced he needs to change his cold-hearted, greedy heart. Ebenezer promises that he will not shut down Old Boz, instead deciding to renovate and improve the orphanage. Then it's off to a tavern cellar to celebrate.
The GHOST is telling the LIVING to haunt Scrooge.

Cute!

Awwww... Ebenezer, I think your heart grew three sizes this day.
